Kettlebells are cast iron weights that range from 5 lbs to over 100 lbs. They resemble a mini bowling ball with a handle for easy gripping. The kettlebell originated in Russia. You’ll hold the kettlebell in one or both hands and go through a variety of swings that include pressing, pushing, and pulling motions.
When changing the weight from hand to hand, as the weight swings up or as you move laterally, it requires you to stabilize your body and engage your core in a whole new way. Some other moves require power from the legs and hips giving you integrated whole body movements that are often missing with other types of training.
